Critical Thinking Based Assignment

For this task, students will be put into groups and assigned an object (a book, pencils, etc.) Each group will be responsible to create a package for their object(s) using the least number of materials possible. Students should discover that finding the volume of each object should aid them in creating packaging with similar dimensions, to best fit their object without excess materials. Students will be given materials to brainstorm their designs with.

Students will use Google Drawing to create a 2D prototype of their packaging and record the dimensions of the object and all materials needed.  Students will then be able to create a 3D version of their object, keeping their original measurements in mind and adjusting their final design to account for errors their 2D prototype may have miscalculated.

Students will record their findings in the datasheet for organizational purposes. After testing their packing with the objects given and making any final adjustments, students will use Google Drawing or Canva to create visually appealing packaging for their products, as if they were to begin selling the product on store shelves.

Once all products are put together and run a final test, students will present their products, materials, and findings to the class.
